World's Worst Blogger!!!!

So I am officially the worst blogger ever! The past I don't even know how many months have been nuts and just flown right by! I thought I'd throw on a quick summary of the events of the past year and a few pics and then call that my fresh start!!!!!! Bryan's parents have a book that we all contribute to. Each family writes an 'entry' per say and then we add to the book each year.... so I am cheating a little and decided to just use our entry as my January post!

Bryan Westerberg Family 2011

2011… Oh, where do we even start?! This was a busy year for the Westerberg Family. We had lots and lots of snow to start with, which meant that in January and February we spent a lot of time playing in it. Kayson built his first snowman with Mom and he also decided that snow was good for eating as well as playing in. J We were able to go to Grandma Wendy and Grandpa Terry’s and play on the ever popular ‘tubing hill’ several times, which we all enjoyed! Kayson enjoyed riding the tubes almost as much as he enjoyed driving the snowmobile up and down the hill!! What a good time.

In February we were able to celebrate the 10th anniversary of my Dad’s transplant, which was a huge milestone for him and for my family. My Mom and I, put together a dinner and an open house to say thank you to the community and to those who have been involved in the entire journey! It was a huge success and we were so happy to be spending such a special day with him. We spent the rest of February doing fun Valentine things and trying to keep a busy 2 year old occupied during cold yucky months!!!

With March, also came a visit from Aunt Meme, who helped us build a snowfort and kept Kayson busy playing nonstop. We also had fun on St. Patrick’s Day in Burley while I was doing one of my regular ‘6 week hair trips’ up there. With all of the snow, we had a very late spring which was great for transplanting tons of plants, of which Wendy and Grandma Arda were gracious enough to give us from their own yards. Bryan enjoyed putting in lots of new stuff and the results were fantastic. He’s worked so hard on our yard and really has it looking beautiful. Some of the major projects that he did this year included the patio area out our back door, and the fabulous table that he designed and built with some wood from the Cardall’s barn that he tore down. The whole thing really changed the look and feel of our yard!!! Also due to the large amounts of snow, we had a bit of a scare when it finally started to melt and there was a lot of runoff. The creek that runs through our backyard got alarmingly high and there were several times that we thought for sure it was going to come right over the bank and flood our house. We were very fortunate, and gratefully that never happened, but it sure had us worried for a while!!!

In May, I turned 26 and celebrated Mother’s Day all in the same day! Whoo hoo! Bry was able to go on his annual horn hunt in Jackson. This year was pretty serious and he even had to invest in a special flash light that would aid in his horn hunting endeavors. After hiking all night long his investment proved to be a success, he came home with 9 elk horns! YES!

June is when life really started to rock and roll! We made our first attempt at a garden. It was small, but we were able to plant zucchini, squash, cucumbers, green beans, yellow beans, carrots, tomatoes, and even some pumpkins. I did the planting and had to learn the hard way that you only need ONE zucchini plant and ONE squash plant….. I planted a whole row of each!! Needless to say we had both coming out our ears! Thanks to Bry for making sure to keep it watered, it was fun to have fresh veggies of our own! However, I think next year we will do it a little differently! Ya live and ya learn right?! Towards the middle of June, my sister (Jenna) and I were able to go back to the T Cross Ranch for the second time. We were there for 7 days, which was a long time to be away. I missed my boys a TON! We worked hard and definitely EARNED our money, but we had a lot of laughs, and made some good memories as well. We weren’t lucky enough to have any wildlife encounters this time, but it was a good experience non-the-less! At the end of June, we decided to embark on our first pet adventure. We got 2 kittens from my friend Kensy. Kayson was soooooo excited! He named them Sally (from the movie Cars) and Tiger (cause he looked like a tiger of course!) They were loved dearly. Unfortunately after a few short weeks we lost them both. We are not sure exactly what happened to them, but we chalk it up to other predators, possibly running away, or perhaps one of them felt the need to sleep near the motor in the truck. Whatever the cause for their disappearance we were sad, but life quickly moved on.

With July came summer! We started it out with a bang as usual by selling fireworks in Burley. Bry was able to come for a day or two and help sell which was kinda fun! Kayson really got into fireworks this year! His favorite thing was the simple yet classic SNAPS! He did several boxes a day. He also really loved the tanks! On the 9th, our baby turned a whopping 3 years old! Holy Smokes. We had a small party with some family and a T-Rex cake as per Kayson’s request. (He specifically said he wanted an orange T-Rex with green eyes and blue spikes.) I did my best and learned that I do not love decorating cakes! At least I tried and he loved it so that’s all that matters! Also, Aunt Kel and Uncle Dan loaned us their tramploline for the summer which we loved! Kayson and Bry Slept on it a few times and we enjoyed many hot days jumping with the sprinkler underneath! Super fun. At the end of July we had the opportunity to get 2 more baby kitties. Kayson named them Chocolate (aka- chalkie) and Rambo (There may have been a little bit of coaxing from his Dad on this one) Later we found out Rambo was infact a girl and her nickname became BoBo! These kitties, just like the first 2, were loved dearly and enjoyed destroying Bry’s flowers, but also, like the first 2, we eventually lost them both as well. 4 cats in 2 months! What can we say….. we are not meant to be cat people I guess!

At the end of July we put Kayson in swimming lessons. The session was 4 days a week for 2 weeks. The first day was a bit scary and he cried for a minute, but they quickly had him distracted and in the water. By the second and third days he was LOVING it! Throughout the 2 weeks he learned how to float on his back ,kick, hold his breath underwater, and even jump off the diving board ! I was so proud of him he did great! He ended up doing another session in August as well.

At the beginning of August, we found out that we are expecting another addition to our family. A baby girl due to arrive April 4, 2012!!! With this exciting news came overwhelming sickness, which resulted in me being confined to my bed for 3 to 4 months! With me being so sick and Bry being so busy with work and things, we were a little bit MIA for awhile. Kayson and Bryan were both troopers and somehow we got through it! We couldn’t be more excited and we eagerly anticipate her arrival!!

Some of our other summer activities included Bryan and Kayson trying out Grandpa Terry’s waterslide, which was awesome and we can’t wait to try it out in 2012! We also started working on our basement which we can proudly say has been a lot of work but well worth it! It has quickly turned into one of the coziest places in our house and we spend 90% of our time down there. It stays nice and warm, we absolutely LOVE it! It’s also nice to have the extra space and now an extra bedroom for company to stay in! In September Bry and I celebrated our 6th anniversary quietly at home! Goodness how time flies!! Bryan also had the opportunity to take his YM on a real ‘scout camp adventure’! They went on a 4 day,3 night trip and hiked Mt. Naomi, Mt. Gog, Cherry Peak, and Mt. Elmer!! Each boy and leader carried their own 50 lb. pack and they even had to walk through snow at some points, left behind from our huge winter! Along the way, they were able to see a Mt. Goat, which was a big deal and one of the highlights of the trip! Everyone seemed to have a great time and I am pretty sure they were all exhausted when they got back!

October was crazy! We were busy planning Jenna’s wedding on the 7th! Afterwards, I left Bryan and Kayson home, and I went with my family down to St. George for their open house! It was a quick trip but fun anyway! All in all the wedding was good and we are excited to have another Man in the family! For Halloween this year I made Kayson a skeleton costume (it even glowed in the dark). He loved it and looked pretty awesome! We went trick or treating with my friend Kensy and baby Addi! Kays had a ball and loved saying “Trick or treat” at every house!!

November came with Bryan’s 35 birthday. He also began training for a big ultra marathon called The Bear, that he plans to run in September of 2012! I am so proud of him and his dedication. He’s doing so well and will run his first marathon in January 2012…. A 20 miler near Nampa, ID, to help him get ready for the big 100 miler in the fall! Go Bry!! The holidays are a bit of blur. They came and went so fast! We spent Thanksgiving Day at the Westerbergs and had a great time. Kayson, Anna, and Audrey all play so cute together! Grandpa Terry even had some fun games planned. Kayson’s favorite was the ‘peanut game’. He talked about it for weeks! Thanksgiving weekend we headed to Burley to celebrate with my family! It's always a good time when we get everyone together. We missed Jenna and Colton, but had fun nonetheless. We spent Christmas at our house this year which was nice! It was pretty low key, but Santa found our house and Kayson was so fun this year! He woke up Christmas morning (at six AM) and said ,” What the heck! What the heck is all this stuff!?” SO funny! We spent the evening at Westerbergs and it was a perfect ending to a great day!

EveEven though we have had an incredibly busy year, we have had a lot of opportunities to learn and grow. We are truly so blessed! We have amazing families who we love and appreciate so much. We have Kayson and one another and we are so excited to have our baby girl coming next year! Most of all we are so grateful for the gospel and for our testimonies. We know that without it, we’d be lost and our life wouldn’t be the same! We are constantly reminded of the Lord’s hand in our lives and we are humbled. We love each other, and we love our Savior. Does life get any better than this?? 2011… it’s been a great ride, bring on 2012!!

{March 2011}

I am sorry for all of the collages. March was a fun month and I had lots of pics so this was the quickest way for me to get all the ones on here that I wanted to!!

**TRYING TO MAKE THE BEST OF IT-

March started out for us like this.......... SNOW! Some really nice days but never-the-less.... SNOW! We tried to take advantage of it and have some fun! Kayson LOVED being outside even if it was in the snow.... notice the thumbs up! That's one of his new favorite things to do..... he'll say, "Gimme a BIG sumbs up" (just like they say on Super Why!) As we were playing outside this day I had to keep telling him to watch out for the deer poop so that he didn't step in it and he would say,"WHAT DA HECK! Poop deer is sick!!!" - yep! My son says 'what the heck' and yep he says 'poop deer' instead of deer poop! LOL

**ST.PATRICKS DAY-

We had a fun filled St. Patricks Day in Burley.... I know it's not a really important holiday, but I tried to take advantage of the opportunity to make it a fun day! :) OK OK the truth is I am a kid at heart and I love to celebrate fun little holidays like this....... don't you remember when you were a kid and it was exciting to go to school on St. Patricks Day and look for ANYONE that didn't have green on just so you could pinch them..... eventually it would become a game and green or not, St. Patricks Day was the ticket to pinch people all day long and not get in trouble!!

Anyway- It was a fun day and somewhat nice outside so Kayson and Jayme and Nana went for a walk to see Papa Morley, and ride on the scooter.... Kayson thinks that's the coolest thing ever! We made St. Patty's Day cupcakes and ate green pancakes at breakfast! The pic below is our attempt at being like the people on Cupcake Wars- (they make their cupcakes look so delightful!) What a fun day!

**VISIT FROM MEME-

Last week we were able to have Meme come stay with us for the WHOLE week! She was on spring break and we feel special that she wanted to come spend it with us! We went to a movie, built a fort in the snow that we still had left, had a picnic at the park, made cookies, watched lots of chic flics,Jayme and Kayson had a sleepover, and Jayme had a fun night with Jason and Em and their niece Rachel at the fun park (go to their blog to see fun pics of that). We made Jayme's favorite- Hawaiin Haystacks, we laughed alot and had many silly moments dancing in the kitchen! What a fun week Meme- thanks for coming to visit we sure love ya!

**BRY'S HIKE WITH THE YM-

Can I just say that I have the COOLEST husband in the world..... He and Brian Abbott (one of the other leaders in the priest quorum) took the Young Men on a super cool hike. Believe it or not these pictures were taken just above Richmond! BEAUTIFUL- It was cold but at least the sun was shining. They had a really good time and, after hiking all day long in the snow, I don't know about the boys, but Bry was pretty tired!!!

I love that Bry is so active and can get out and do these kinds of things with the boys.
Great pictures Bry... I think he got some really good ones!

** 2 YEAR OLD MISCHIEF!

So Kayson got into my makeup and drew all over himself with black eye liner. The silly thing is- I was standing literally RIGHT next to him putting makeup on myself and talking to my Mom on the phone..... It only took the little stinker a few seconds to draw all over his arms and tummy before I caught him. Glad I did WHEN I did otherwise it probably would have turned from artwork into a masterpiece!!!! When I asked him why he did it he said,"I was jus writing K-A-Y-S-O-N, Kayson!" As least he knows how to spell his name right!

**SPRING HAS SPRUNG AND I AM LOVING IT!
Kays and I went and walked around the yard a few days ag0- It was super super nice outside- and to my delight this is what we found..... I am so excited that flowers are starting to come up and plants are coming out of hibernation to grace us with their presence! It gives me hope that spring is officially on it's way! Now that we've had a taste of it I am pretty sure I have lost my husband- the yard is calling his name and my basement is probably going to get put on hold! Any inside projects we have going are probably going to have to wait, but I am grateful that I have a healthy husband who enjoys making our yard beautiful! He does such a great job and I am so glad that he has a nack for it! We have been wanting a cool table in our backyard to enjoy through the summer months and this is what my husband came up with! He says he's not a "craftsman" but I beg to differ! I LOVE it and I think it turned out great! The flower pot can stay, as for the deer horns, I think they would be much happier in a flower bed somewhere :) ...............
Sorry bout the dirty face.... he was too busy playin to let me wipe it..... no really- I said let me wipe your face and he replied, "I'm too busy Mom, I don't have time for that stuff!"
Love this boy..... he is getting big so fast I can't believe it! I keep a notebook on my kitchen counter and when he says something that I want to remember I immediately go write it down. I wanted to share a few as of late.....

* I put his plate of dinner in front of him and he said...
K: I tant eat dis!

Me: Why not?

K: Tause it's not for tids! (cause it's not for kids)

*After hitting my head really hard on a cupboard door...

*Me: Kays get your little bum in here and get your room picked up, this is a mess!!

K: But Mooom, I'm jus a tid! (i'm just a kid)

{February 2011- It's a long one folks}

Oh MY GOODNESS!!! Where are the months going? Here I am almost 2 months behind already. SO as a result of me trying to get caught back up- this is going to be a long post with tons of pics, bare with me!! :) February for us was super busy but super fun! We spent a Lot of time with friends and family and made lots of fun memories... some of our highlights were: #1-The celebration of my Dad's 10 YEAR ANNIVERSARY! YAY we were so excited and grateful to be celebrating such an awesome event! Were so proud of my Dad and so very grateful to still have him here. He is such an amazing man and if you'd like to see more on this occasion in particular or any other news cast that's been done on him the past 10 years, you can go to kmvt.com and type in his name or google Michael Pollard organ transplant. There are some really great stories that are not only touching, but informative as well! Also, I have to put a word in and encourage ALL to be organ and tissue donors- it's amazing how many lives you can save and I am so grateful for a 15 year old boy and his family for giving US the gift of life! WE LOVE YOU DAD- here's to another 10 years!!!
The pic above--The Clutters gave each one of us Pittsburgh shirts when they came to visit! The pic below is Kayson helping Uncle Tony clean up at the end of the night! What a helper huh!?

The pic below is lovely I know..... we're a bit crazy when we all get together it's a PAR-TAY!!
I could not resist taking a picture of my sisters and Jenna's roommate Sam taking pictures of themselves..... LOL ...........
Below is Julene Thurston and the one below it is Sherrie Hamilton- they catered our open house and did a FABULOUS job! I would recommend them to anyone!

Great food, fabulous turnout- it couldn't have gone any better! Thanks to everyone for your love and support and for celebrating this incredibly special occasion with our family!!!!!
Kayson's little friend Joe Barrett was at the open house and they had a BLAST they are such cute lil guys and have so much fun together! We love our playdates with Joe..... they laugh and giggle so hard it's darling! Kayson ran around at the end of the night with the 'zero' balloon we had- why do we even buy toys, this was the greatest thing ever!
#2- Valentines Day! We had a low key Valentine's Day this year... Kayson and I had been in Burley doing hair the week before so we didn't do much ON Valentine's Day we made heart pancakes and exchanged cards, but I tried to make it a fun month all around. We made Kays a Valentine's box which got completely filled! This boy is LOVED!!! :) I also got into some crafts and made some fun new things to add to my February decor! I LOVE how it all turned out!
We had a play date with our little friends Jada and Brecca Day- They played and played and played! We made Valentine hats and jigglers which the kids thought was super fun! Thanks for coming to play girls!
#3- Winter Wonderland! February was full of snow here in Logan! UGH! I am not a fan after Christmas but we delt with it! There's nothin like a cookie and a sunny day to pull you out of the winter blues! I love my little cheeseball in his "Tool Basses!" (cool glasses!) We've had some friends the last few months that stop by and visit everyday and I finally got some ok pictures of them! This little herd comes through our yard every morning and again every night! Kayson is absolutely positive it's Bambi!!

Headed through the creek in our backyard! I took these pics from my kitchen window!!

We LOVE our winter wonderland and we are so blessed to live in such a beautiful place!!!!!!

{I LOATHE Winter.....}

Where are the months, days, and weeks going???? I cannot believe that we are almost into February already! I told myself that I was going to be better about blogging in 2011.... I'm not off to a very good start am I? I figured that one post a month is about what I could handle so since January is ALMOST over I thought I better get on it! I thought I'd post a few random pics and then when I have a bit more time I will catch up on our FABULOUS holiday season.
I love the snow before Christmas and during the holidays, but mid January I start to long for warm weather. Winter is hard..... winter is hard with a 2 1/2 year old!!!! I have been trying to get creative and find things for him to do to keep him busy, so that we BOTH stay sane!! We do alot of coloring and finger painting. We make cookies, do puzzles, play trains, have sword fights, and of course we play dinosaurs on a regular basis, which is always fun.;) Starting on Thursday we are going to go to story time at the library here in Richmond, which I think Kayson will really enjoy, but seriously! I also find myself putting in lots of movies and then before I know it we've watched several in a row- SO- ANY ideas to keep a toddler busy during these yucky cold months would be WELCOMED!!!! In the mean time we'll keep pushing along and dream of warmer days when we can play outside for hours and go for walks! (SIGH)(Kayson asked for a "SNACK" one day and he said ,"Pees Mom can I eat it in my woom? PEEEEES?"............ yes I caved!)

On a side note we started remodeling our basement and it's been good to have something to keep us busy through these long winter months. We knocked out a wall and added another one... things are moving right along and these aren't the most recent pics but they were just after we started demolition! We have since had electrical work done and the sheet rock should be done this week. Then it's hopefully smooth sailing! We are so excited to finally have heat down there and be able to enjoy it!

The pic above is the new wall that will frame in the laundry room! (No more doing laundry in my kitchen YAY!) The below pic is where the old wall used to be that we knocked out.. It just opened the whole basement up and made it feel so big and open!

My sister and I have been working on some fun Valentine crafts that should be finished soon so, hopefully a post will follow! :) Until then I will just have to dream of warmer days... BLAH!

{October and my super cute T Rex!!!!!}

Oh my goodness where did October go.... I am so behind when it comes to blogging that the thought of doing a September post AND an October post was tooo overwhelming... Kayson is growing up sooooo fast. It's a good thing I have a journal AND a blog because between the two I am hopefully recording the most important stuff!!! :) My baby isn't a baby anymore.... he's been potty trained since shortly after he turned two in July, he is talking NON STOP, and we are currently in the process of getting rid of the infamous Bink! I would like to jot down a few things for memory purposes seeing as how I forget things quickly:

Kayson is really in to dinosaurs right now, and trains.... we got some Thomas the Train underpants and ever since then he's been interested.

H is still a "big machine" fanatic- dozers, tractors, backhoes, excavators, you name it!

Things that he says alot: Mom aunt Eat- he wants to eat, it's otay it's otay (To babies that are crying or upset or Maggie when she's barking) , I did! or I didn't!, and DO IT NYSELF!

The terrible two's are upon us in full force..... we have seen quite a bit of whining and fussing and a few tantrums that are out of this world. Thank heaven for us Time Out works pretty good! My Monkey is also into guns right now.... we are not sure where or when he learned about them but he goes "huntin" quite a bit.... occasionally for snakes or squirrels, and sometimes a bird or a moose but mostly for "eee wrexes"! He saves my life quite a bit.just before I am about to be eaten alive Kayson shoots T Rex and becomes my hero. (we play this game often)

OH BOY! :)

Now that the details are out of the way, onto the pics, I'm sorry there are so many, but I love pics and it's my blog to with what I want..... :)

We kicked off October with our annual Halloween sugar cookie making...... they were yummy and Kayser had a BLAST!

Yes my kitchen was covered in flour by the time we are done.... but we had a blast and it's nothing that can't be cleaned up right? Thankfully Aunt Bugz was here to help :)!

Bryan has started a major project outside that is going to look fabulous! He's only got this first section done so far but it will go the whole length of our front yard in front of the fence! I think it looks GREAT! I love that my husband has such a nack for yard work....

This has been what our backyard has looked like lately..... leaves, leaves, and more leaves. It's officially Fall!I have also been in a super crafty mood lately and was in dire need of some fun Halloween decor.... so I decided to make a few things... these ghosts were first...... then my friend Darci helped me do this super cute plate. It says" The wicked witch and her little monsters live here."

We also went to the pumpkin walk in Logan with the Days. We had such a great time.... this was one of the "exhibits"- The Beatles.

Kayson really loves the Cat in the Hat right now so I had to get a pick.... I wish I would have gotten a better one of thing one and thing two. They were darling.

Simba...... too cute.

This was Madagascar.... I thought it was cute. Oh yes and there's Bry can you tell how much fun he was having??? :)
This bumblebee was cute......

As soon as we got close to this one Kayson said, " It's memo!!!!!"
The kids were so cute.... they walked for quite some time holding hands. Kayson LOVES Brecca and Jada and had so much fun with them all night.

Jada, Kayson, and Brecka- I was dumb and didn't even get one of baby Ledgen... sorry Darc!
This was another one of my Halloween crafts... I saw them on a blog and decided to give 'em a try.... they turned out super cute and I think I spent $3 total! This is my front porch.... Bry made these pumpkins for me a couple of years ago.... I just LOVE them. I leave them up till Thanksgiving! Also- I can't believe how great all of my pots still look this late into the year! I LOVE it.

The Young Men and Young Women in our ward always put on a fun Halloween carnival for all the primary kids, so we went to that and sadly this is the only picture I took... the Kids were lining up for the Costume parade. Kayson had such a blast, when he did the bean bag toss he actually made a few into the holes....
Kayson and I made these fun Halloween treats on Sunday! They turned out super cute........and for Breakfast I made orange pancakes with Chocolate chips.......
We did our "Frick or Freatin" on Saturday night in the yucky rainy weather, but Kayser LOVED it... he laughed and giggled so much and said "fank you" at every house. We ended up with WAY more candy than any 2 year old needs! As soon as we got home and got his costume off he dumped it out on the table and looked at each and every piece and counted "one, ooo, free, or, nine!" lol I guess we need to work on what comes after 4. At Grandma and Grandpa's house Kays got a little skeleton on a bike a tons of treats.... HUGE hit! Thanks you guys.I snapped this picture on the way back from Preston... what a tired Monkey and we hadn't even gone trick or treating yet! He's ready to go...........Our very first house.... Aunt Kel and Uncle Dan's. Isn't he such a cute T Rex!When we got to Grandma Arda's Sydney and Shelby were there along with Jake and Clara! Perfect opportunity to take pics with Grandma AND almost everyone was smiling wahoo! That's my little T Rex- he was in FULL costume all night growling and scratching stuff with his claws! He loved it. I love to dress up for Halloween so I decided that I would be a cave women and Kayson was my pet T Rex! :) I thought they went well together. I am sorry to say that I didn't think to get any pics of Kayson with his daddy..... Bry went to the Aggie Game with his Dad so Jenna came out to go Trick or Treating with us. I wanted to give my little sister a shout out and tell her we love her...... On Sunday she came down with a nasty bug and has been in bed ever since. We hope you are feeling better and we can't wait till you can play again soon- thanks for coming out to spend the evening with us!
That was our month in a nutshell.... we had some other things going on that I didn't get any pics of - My sister Jordan went to Homecoming and looked DARLING, we went to West Jordan and spent an evening with My cousins Trisha and Bryan and Cody and Natalie and their cute little familes- thanks for a fun night you guys, we trick or treated to Papa Morely and My parents, and Bryan went on several hunting excursions only to come back empty handed! It's been a busy month and I can't believe that it's November already!!! Bring on the Holidays I am ready. My goal this year is to be DONE Christmas shopping BEFORE December. We will see how that goes........ I added this last pic of my sister Jayme and her best bud cause I thought they looked super cute....... aren't they some pretty awesome rocker chicks?
